Laura has a special interest in working with adolescents and adults experiencing eating disorders, emotion regulation difficulties, personality disorders, anxiety, depression, and other complex mental health presentations. She also supports clients experiencing difficulties with self-esteem, relationships, life transitions, and emotional wellbeing, helping them build healthier ways of coping and connecting with others.
Originally from Argentina, Laura completed a four-year Clinical Psychology Residency at Hospital Teodoro Álvarez in Buenos Aires, where she gained extensive experience across inpatient, outpatient, and community mental health settings. During her residency, she worked with individuals experiencing a broad range of presentations, including eating disorders, personality disorders, psychosis, substance use difficulties, anxiety, depression, and other complex mental health concerns. She also facilitated therapeutic groups, worked closely with families, and developed a strong systemic approach to understanding psychological difficulties.
Laura developed further experience in eating disorders through specialised clinical training at Hospital Borda in Buenos Aires and the Eating Disorders Unit at Hospital Santa Cristina in Madrid, Spain. These experiences allowed her to deepen her understanding of evidence-based approaches to supporting individuals and families navigating eating disorders.
Following her residency, Laura worked in private practice providing individual and family therapy for adolescents, adults, and families, with a particular focus on eating disorders, personality disorders, and emotion regulation. Alongside her clinical work, she has experience as a university lecturer in Family, Couple, and Group Therapy.
Therapeutic Approaches
Laura works primarily from a systemic framework, recognising the importance of relationships, family dynamics, and life experiences in understanding psychological wellbeing. She integrates Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based strategies, tailoring treatment to each person’s individual needs and goals.
She has a particular interest in helping clients strengthen emotion regulation skills, improve interpersonal relationships, and develop greater self-understanding in a supportive and collaborative therapeutic environment.
Professional Qualifications and Clinical Training
Laura is a Registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA). She completed her Bachelor of Psychology and Specialisation in Clinical Psychology with a Systemic Orientation at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Laura completed a four-year Clinical Psychology Residency at Hospital Teodoro Álvarez in Buenos Aires, gaining extensive supervised experience across inpatient, outpatient, and community mental health settings.
Laura provides therapy in both English and Spanish.
