Rebecca is a Clinical Psychologist with a passion for working with others to create a life with meaning and vitality. Rebecca has worked as a psychologist for many years with interests in anxiety, depression and eating disorders. She currently holds membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Australian Psychological Society, and the Australian New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders.
Rebecca began her career working in mental health services in rural NSW. In that setting, consistent with her strong belief in evidence based treatment, she used John Kabat Zinn’s research and writing to establish and deliver a Mindfulness for Depression group therapy program. Moving forward Rebecca helped found and run a community based Dialectical Behaviour Therapy program in Metropolitan Sydney, as well as working on assessment and delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for those with mood disorders and anxiety.
Between 2010 and 2015 Rebecca worked at Northside Clinic to deliver inpatient and outpatient treatment in the well regarded Eating Disorders Program, working with adults, adolescents and their families to make substantial changes. Rebecca has completed research at Northside Clinic on the individual factors which influence treatment outcome in Eating Disorders. Simultaneously Rebecca has worked in the Mood and Anxiety Unit to deliver short term and client led treatment to those with these illnesses.
As well as working with individuals experiencing Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa, Rebecca has a strong interest in Binge Eating Disorder, body image disturbance and managing obesity. Rebecca has a special interest and specialisation in ‘third wave behavioural therapies’ including Mindfulness based CBT, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and has completed training with world leaders such as Marsha Linehan, Kelly Wilson and Russ Harris. Rebecca has a warm and engaging personal style that combines humour with pushing forward for change.
