Jen Bradon

Psychologist (Co-Director)

Jen and Rebecca founded The Practice Healthcare with the aim of creating a warm and inviting space where people could be supported in accessing all forms of treatment in one clinic.

Jen is a warm and empathic registered psychologist with many years of experience working clinically, in both inpatient and outpatient settings across private and public services. She is dedicated to creating a safe environment for those facing challenges with eating concerns, anxiety, depression, low self-worth and relationship concerns.

Jen is passionate about supporting others to discover their inherent strengths in order to facilitate motivation and change, successfully using this approach to address people’s ambivalence to change. Jen has extensive experience working with clients dealing with eating concerns and eating disorders (Binge Eating Disorder, Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa), anxiety, depression, low self-worth and relationships concerns.

Jen focuses on all aspects of health and how various eating concerns stand in the way of people living a life in line with their values. Jen also unpacks the function of body image concerns in people’s lives and supports them in moving away from the projection of “self” onto the body.

With a special interest in working with women and adolescents, Jen combines evidence based treatment with a secure therapeutic relationship to create a strong foundation for change. Jen has a strong passion for working with adolescents and young adults who struggle with unhelpful coping mechanisms and believes in the importance of offering a safe space for individuals to find their strength and move towards their preferred story. She understands the struggle that many face in school environments and helps young people to learn self-acceptance and increase their self-worth. Jen supports clients to have a voice and manage emotional distress, utilising techniques such as mindfulness and the development of interpersonal skills to help create change in areas where people feel overcome by strong emotions.

Jen currently holds membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency Australian Psychological Society , and the Australian New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders . She has completed training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT); Cognitive Behavioural Therapy; Schema therapy; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Narrative Therapy; Interpersonal Therapy; Emotion Focussed Therapy; and time limited psychodynamic therapy. She has been fully trained in family-based therapy as well as CBT-E, RO- DBT and SSCM for the treatment of eating disorders.Jen is ANZAED Eating Disorder Credential Clinician.

Jen worked for a number of years at Northside Clinic initially as part of their eating disorders day program, before joining their inpatient eating disorders program. Jen and Rebecca rewrote the group psychology program in 2018 in their inpatient eating disorders unit. Alongside creating The Practice Healthcare, Jen taught on the Masters of Professional Psychology at Macquarie University , covering counselling and narrative therapy techniques, ethical issues and providing small group supervision.
