Emma Kavanagh


Emma is a warm, caring, insightful and compassionate clinician with over fifteen years experience as a psychologist. She is a member of AHPRA, the Australian Psychological Society, and the Psychology and Ageing Interest Group.

One of Emma’s areas of specialty is anxiety disorders and she has trained and conducted research at the Centre for Emotional Health (MUARU) at Macquarie University. Emma is also interested and very experienced in psychology services for older adults and their carers in the community and in residential aged care. Other areas of expertise include depression and other mood disorders, workplace issues, stress, relationship difficulties and family issues, eating disorders, anger management, working with children, grief and loss, adjustment issues and resilience building. Emma is actively involved in teaching and regularly delivers mental health workshops for corporates and community organisations.

Utilising a collaborative and empathetic approach, Emma works with clients to identify, understand and work through issues affecting their daily lives, mental health and emotional wellbeing. Emma’s therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Family Systems Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Schema Therapy.
