Amelia Mitchell

Clinical Psychology Registrar

Amelia is a warm and empathic psychologist dedicated to providing collaborative, evidence-based psychological care to clients. Amelia has worked extensively with young adults, adolescents, children and families in a variety of clinical settings including schools, private practices, out of home care, youth refuges and hospital settings.

Amelia adopts a therapeutic approach to suit the needs of the client but works primarily from the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework.

Amelia has experience working with a range of presentations including anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, OCD, behavioural disorders, trauma and self-harm. She has a particular interest in working with anxiety, OCD, and behavioural disorders. Having worked in schools Amelia is familiar with many of the concerns experienced by children and adolescence in their educational environment and enjoys working holistically with families and their educational institutions to support early intervention and best outcomes.

Amelia is trained in the facilitation of the Rock and Water program, 1-2-3 magic parenting program, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (Cornell University) and Trauma Focused CBT (Medical University of South Carolina).

Amelia completed her Honours in psychology at the University of New South Wales a postgraduate degree in Professional Psychology at Macquarie University and her Masters of Clinical Psychology at Charles Sturt University. She currently holds membership with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.
